Companion and homemaker care
Someone to keep your mother company and keep the house running, in Edgewater
Our Home Healthcare is a licensed home health agency in Edgewater, Florida. Companion and homemaker care is for a person who is safe alone but should not be lonely or doing all the chores. The same caregiver comes each week for conversation, meals, laundry, errands and rides, at $32 an hour, with a registered nurse checking in every 30 days.

Who companion care is for
Is your mother safe at home but alone too much
She does not need help in the shower. She needs someone at the table. These are the 3 calls Jordan gets most often about companion care in Edgewater and New Smyrna Beach.
You live 2 hours away and the phone calls are getting shorter
Dad is fine, he says. The fridge says otherwise. A caregiver 3 mornings a week cooks, shops with him, and tells you what she actually saw. Priya visits at least every 30 days and tells you what she saw too.
She stopped driving and the week got very small
No church, no hair appointment, no Publix. Our caregivers drive clients to appointments, to church, to friends, and to the river walk at Kennedy Park. The rides are part of the visit.
The housework is becoming a danger
Laundry down the steps, a stool for the top shelf, a bathtub nobody has scrubbed in a month. Homemaker care takes the chores off her, and Priya walks the house at the first visit and notes what needs fixing.

What we do
What does a companion and homemaker visit look like
A visit is at least 4 hours. What fills it is on Priya's plan of care, written with your mother at the first visit.
- Conversation, cards, the crossword, the news
- Meals cooked in her kitchen, and a second one in the fridge for tomorrow
- Light housekeeping, the dishes, the floors, the bathroom
- Laundry washed, folded and put away
- Grocery shopping, with her or for her
- Errands, the pharmacy, the post office, the bank
- Rides to appointments, to church and to see friends
- A walk by the river when the weather allows
Companion caregivers do not do hands-on care such as bathing or transfers. If that need comes later, Priya moves the plan to personal care at the same $32 an hour, often with the same caregiver. For a husband or wife living with dementia, read about memory care at home.
Who comes to the house
Who will my mother be spending her afternoons with
A caregiver Jordan picked for her, and a registered nurse behind that caregiver. Florida does not require a nurse on a companion case. We put one on every case anyway.

Rosa
Caregiver
Rosa is 1 of 64 caregivers employed by Our Home Healthcare, every one of them Level 2 background screened, drug tested and CPR certified. Your mother gets a primary caregiver and 1 trained backup, and meets at most 3 caregivers in her first 90 days.

Priya Ramnath, RN
Nurse case manager
Writes the plan of care, even for a companion-only client, and visits at least every 30 days. If she sees a change in your mother, you hear about it from her.

How care starts
How quickly can a companion start coming
Jordan picks the caregiver for the person. For companion care that means someone your mother will actually want at her table.
You call, or send the form
Jordan calls you back within the hour, day or night. You tell us what is going on. No script, no sales pitch, and no decisions needed on the call.
A nurse visits the home
Priya or Dana comes to the house within 24 hours. It is free, takes about an hour, and you leave it with a written plan of care and an exact price for it.
Care starts
Jordan picks a caregiver for the person, not for the shift, and the first visit happens within 48 hours of your call. Jordan then calls you every week for the first month.
What families say
What do families say about companion care from us
The same person on the same days is what families remember, and the nurse behind her is what they lean on when something goes wrong at 11 at night.
Mom has had Rosa on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for 2 years. Same person. That is the whole reason we stayed.Linda, New Smyrna Beachdaughter
I called at 11 at night because Bill fell. A nurse answered. Not a service, a nurse.Joan, Edgewaterwife
