The people who come to the house
The nurses and caregivers who will be in your mother's house
Our Home Healthcare is a nurse-led home care agency in Edgewater, Florida, with 2 registered nurses, an administrator, a care coordinator, a lead trainer and 64 caregivers. Every caregiver is our employee, Level 2 background screened, drug tested and CPR certified. The people on this page are the people who answer the phone and come to the house.

The office in Edgewater
Who runs Our Home Healthcare and who will you talk to
5 people run the agency from the office on US-1. 2 of them are registered nurses. When you call, you get Jordan. When a nurse comes to the house, it is Priya or Dana. When the invoice needs explaining, it is Tom.

Dana Whitfield, RN, BSN
Founder and Director of Nursing
20 years as a floor nurse and then a hospital case manager in Volusia County. In 2013 she brought her father home to Florida Shores after a stroke, and in March 2014 she started the agency with 3 caregivers and her own car. She still visits clients and takes the night line 1 week in 5. Read her story.

Tom Whitfield
Administrator
Dana's husband. Tom ran a marine supply business in New Smyrna Beach for 25 years. He owns the scheduling, the billing, the long-term care insurance paperwork and the Family Portal. He is the person who makes the invoice make sense.

Priya Ramnath, RN
Nurse Case Manager
Hospice and home health background. Priya writes every plan of care, visits every client at least every 30 days, and trains the caregivers on wounds, medications and dementia. She is the nurse the family calls when something changes.

Carla Jimenez, CNA
Lead Caregiver and Trainer
With the agency since 2015. Carla runs the 2-week caregiver onboarding and shadows every new caregiver on their first 3 shifts. She still takes shifts herself, including respite stays so a wife can go to a wedding.

Jordan Blake
Care Coordinator
Jordan answers the phone. Jordan matches caregivers to clients, runs the 48-hour start, and calls every family once a week for the first month. If a match is wrong, Jordan changes it within a week.

The 64 caregivers
How are the caregivers at Our Home Healthcare screened and trained
All 64 of our CNAs and Home Health Aides are our W-2 employees. Each one passed a Level 2 background screening and a drug test and holds a current CPR certificate before the first shift. They stay with us an average of 4.1 years, which is why the face at the door stays the same.
Carla Jimenez, CNA, our lead caregiver since 2015, runs a paid 2-week onboarding for every new hire in the training room on US-1. Safe transfers with a gait belt, bathing, dressing, meals, what to write in the notes, and when to call the nurse. Then Carla shadows every new caregiver on their first 3 shifts in a client's house. Priya, our nurse case manager, trains the whole team on wounds, medications and dementia.
No caregiver is ever alone with a problem. A nurse is on call on every shift, day and night, and the caregiver has the number.

3 of the 64
Rosa, Marcus and Lin are the caregivers in most of the photos on this site. Their ages and start years below are sample details for this page.

Rosa
CNA, with us since 2016 (sample)
Rosa, 54, is the caregiver at the kitchen counter and over the crossword in our photos. She has kept the same Monday, Wednesday and Friday clients for years.

Marcus
Home Health Aide (sample)
Marcus, 34, takes overnights and mornings. He is the one reading under the lamp at night while his client sleeps down the hall, and the one Carla uses to demonstrate the gait belt in training.

Lin
CNA (sample)
Lin, 45, does personal care and comfort care. Help with the sleeve of a cardigan in the morning and a hand held at the bedside when that is what the day needs.
How we pick who comes
How does Jordan choose the caregiver for your mother
Jordan picks a caregiver for the person, not for the shift. That takes a conversation about who your mother is, and then a rule about how many faces she will ever have to learn.
Jordan listens
What she likes, what she will not put up with, whether she wants someone chatty or quiet, the dog, the hours, the stairs. Priya's plan of care tells Jordan what skills the caregiver needs. The conversation tells Jordan who.
A primary caregiver and 1 backup
Your mother gets 1 primary caregiver and 1 trained backup who has met her and read her plan. If the primary is sick or on holiday, the backup comes. Not a stranger.
At most 3 faces in 90 days
In the first 90 days your mother meets no more than 3 caregivers from Our Home Healthcare. If a match is wrong, tell Jordan and it changes within a week, no questions asked. Jordan calls you every week for the first month to check.
