Personal care at home
Help with bathing, dressing and getting around, at home in Edgewater
Our Home Healthcare is a licensed home health agency in Edgewater, Florida. A caregiver comes to the house to help with bathing, dressing, the toilet, getting out of a chair and meals, from 4 hours a visit to 24 hours a day. Same caregiver each visit, a registered nurse checking in, and $32 an hour.

Who personal care is for
When does a family call us about personal care
Usually after a fall, a hospital stay, or the morning your mother could not get out of the tub on her own. Personal care is hands-on help with the body. It is the care Our Home Healthcare gives most often in Edgewater, and the one most families start with.
Your father will not let you help him in the shower
He is 84 and you are his daughter. A trained caregiver, the same one each visit, makes the shower safe and keeps it private. It stops being a fight between the 2 of you.
Getting out of the chair takes 2 people now
Bed to chair, chair to toilet, toilet to car. Transfers are where falls happen. Carla trains every caregiver on gait belts and safe stands, and Priya writes down exactly how your mother is to be moved.
The mornings are slipping
Breakfast at noon, pills skipped, the same shirt 3 days running. A caregiver on a set schedule puts the day back in order. If the harder part is memory, read about memory care at home.
What we do
What does a personal care visit include
Whatever Priya wrote in the plan of care, and nothing you did not ask for. A visit is at least 4 hours and can run to 24 hours a day. This is what a caregiver does in the house.
- Bathing and showering, with the skin checked while we are there
- Dressing and grooming, hair, shaving, teeth
- Help with the toilet and with incontinence
- Transfers, bed to chair, chair to toilet, house to car
- Walking beside your mother, with the walker or without it
- Meals cooked in her kitchen and eaten at her table
- Medication reminders at the times on Priya's list
If what your mother needs is company, errands and the housework rather than hands-on help, that is companion and homemaker care, at the same hourly rate. If there is a wound, an injection or a condition to watch, Priya adds skilled nursing visits to the same plan.

Who comes to the house
Who will be helping my mother
You will know every name before the first shift. Every caregiver at Our Home Healthcare is our employee, Level 2 background screened, drug tested and CPR certified. Carla Jimenez, our lead caregiver, trains each new one for 2 weeks and then shadows their first 3 shifts.

Priya Ramnath, RN
Nurse case manager
Writes the plan of care at the first visit, shows the caregivers how your mother likes things done, and visits at least every 30 days. The person you call when something changes.

Lin
Caregiver
A primary caregiver comes to every visit. Lin is 1 of our 64 caregivers, and they stay with us an average of 4.1 years, so the face at the door stays the same.

Rosa
Caregiver
Every client also has 1 trained backup who knows the same plan, for the days the primary caregiver is sick or away. In your first 90 days you meet at most 3 caregivers.

Jordan Blake
Care coordinator
Answers the phone, matches the caregiver to the person and not to the shift, and calls you every week for the first month. If a match is wrong, Jordan changes it within a week.
